BUKIT PITON PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

28 May 2024 -- Posted by : admin

The lowland dipterocarp forest of Bukit Piton Forest Reserve is highly degraded due previous unsustainable timber extraction, encroachment and forest fire. At the same time Bukit Piton remains a critical habitat for the endangered Orangutan.

Brothers Cycling first started the replanting project at Bukit Piton Forest Reserve in mid 2017 with only 5000m2 plot with a five years maintenance work. Today, we have expanded the tree planting project to 65,000 m2area. Our main aim is to restore forest cover and quality in order to provide the endangered orangutan with more roaming space, shelter and food source.  It is with hope that by 2022 we are able to cover another 65,000 m2 of the landscape making it in total 130,000m2 for reforestation in Bukit Piton.

Below is a breakdown on the implementation and costing of the tree planting project in Bukit Piton by Brothers Cycling.
