Dr. Nadine Keller

Advisor / Technical Support

Dr. Nadine Keller is a tropical ecologists who supports SynBorneo as a scientific advisor. She supports the scientific assessment of syntropic farming practices, particularly the temporal recovery of soil health.

Nadine has grown up on the Swiss countryside, and developed a passion for forests during her studies in Zurich. Eventually she joined a fieldcourse to Sabah in 2017, and immediately fell in love with the most beautiful ecosystem on Earth: the pristine tropical forest of Danum Valley (this opinion might be slightly biased). She returned in 2018 for her Master’s thesis for which she stayed in the jungle of Sabah for five months collecting rainfall data. It was then, when she decided she wants to become researcher as a profession. Hence, she started a PhD the same year and spent many months in the tropical rainforest in Sabah in subsequent years.

Since 2023, Nadine is a postdoctoral research fellow at the National University of Singapore where she investigates how carbon can be stored in tropical soils. She’s further interested in ecohydrological processes and the recovering of formerly degraded forests. With this skillset she is an appreciated addition to our team for scientific questions and for representing us in public presentations at schools and conferences.

Nadine has a personal interest in the transformation of Sabah’s landscapes towards sustainable farming and the conservation and restoration of tropical rainforests. Nadine is further a passionate foodie and loves the various products that are grown on SynBorneo’s farm in Lahad Datu.
